Elliott Sadler has been named the 2018 Most Popular Driver for the NASCAR Xfinity Series, his fourth time taking home the award.

Mooresville, N.C. (Nov. 28, 2018) – Elliott Sadler took the checkered flag at Homestead-Miami Speedway for the final time as a full-time NASCAR competitor after announcing his decision to step away this past August. At the end of a successful 23-year career, fans responded by voting the veteran driver with 17 career victories the 2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series Most Popular Driver.

With the award, the Virginia native has now won more Most Popular Driver awards than any other driver in NXS history. He is also the first JR Motorsports driver to earn the MPD award in three consecutive seasons.

“I’m blown away by the support of my fans throughout my career and in the last few months after announcing my decision to step away. To be voted the NXS Most Popular Driver for a third straight year is incredible. Not only that, but to be the winningest with four awards is unreal,” Sadler said. “I’m grateful for each and every fan, for all of their support and daily votes. I’m humbled by this experience and can’t thank my family, friends, fans and NASCAR enough. I love you guys.”

Following a strong season that included one pole award, 14 top-five and 24 top-10 finishes, Sadler earned his fourth MPD award as determined by fan voting. The driver’s first award came in 2011 in his first full-time season back in the Xfinity Series.

With the achievement, Sadler furthers JRM’s streak to seven straight. The organization has claimed the honor a total of nine times. In addition to Brad Keselowski’s two MPD awards (2008-09), Danica Patrick (2012), Regan Smith (2013) and Chase Elliott (2014-15) have all added to the tally, with Sadler claiming the most recent three (2016-18).
