MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 30, 2019) – JR Motorsports had a solid night in Wednesday’s second round of the eNASCAR Heat Pro League at Auto Club Speedway, as JRM drivers Tyler Dohar (XBOX) and Jason Keffer (PS4) finished second and ninth, respectively in the 40-lap events on the virtual 2-mile oval near Los Angeles.

Keffer led off for JRM in the PS4 feature, starting 11th in his No. 7 Win Dale Jr.’s Ride Chevrolet and keeping station in the top 10 for the opening flurry. Keffer was 13th with 26 laps remaining when he ducked down pit road a lap before the scheduled competition caution, and he emerged with the lead when the remainder of the field stopped behind him. His stay at the head of the field ended at the halfway point as he lost the lead to the No. 13 of Kyle Arnold on the first lap of green when the latter dived low in Turn 3, and he crossed the line in fourth spot.

Maintaining position in the top five, Keffer got back to the lead with 10 to go after pitting a lap earlier than the rest of the field, but the same scenario played out again when the No. 20 machine swept past with a big run down the backstretch. As the intensity ramped up and cars began contesting every inch of space, Keffer dropped to 13th spot after having to check up hard to avoid an accident with nine laps remaining. Following a caution flag with eight laps left, Keffer lined up 11th for the restart with five laps to go and ended up nipping the No. 44 at the line by a narrow margin for ninth spot.

In the XBOX main, Dohar rolled off from third position and stayed in the mix for the first eight laps before the leaders began to hit pit road. Dohar, taking a page from Keffer in the PS4 race, stayed out a lap later before hitting pit road for his own stop and wound up pitting from the lead. He rejoined the field in fifth spot with 36 laps remaining.

Ten laps later, Dohar turned up the wick a bit and advanced to third place, a little more than a second behind the leader. He moved up to second with 24 laps remaining, one lap ahead of the competition caution. After pitting, Dohar resumed in sixth place and wasted little time getting back to fourth with 18 laps remaining. He rode there, in the midst of the lead pack, until three laps were left. In a bid for the lead, the No. 6 machine got into the side of the No. 22 entering Turn 1, which sent the 22 to the wall. Bouncing off, the 22 hit the 18, which in turn knocked into the No. 14 machine, and Dohar sailed through the sudden gap to second place.

On the restart, Dohar dropped to fourth on the flag, but rallied as the top cars began to bump and grind. He was second into Turn 3 on the final lap, and held off the No. 95 to earn his second straight runner-up finish.

Thanks to the solid finishes in the second race of the season, JRM maintained third spot in the team point standings, just 10 points out of the overall lead behind Team Penske Esports and Leavine Family Gaming. Both drivers’ points are pooled into a single team effort. Six events remain in the regular season before the four-event playoff begins in September.

Next up for Dohar and Keffer will be at Bristol Motor Speedway on Wednesday, June 12.
