Bruce Cook joined the JR Motorsports family in the winter of 2011, bringing more than 25 years of racing expertise to the surging organization.  The 43-year-old will serve as crew chief of the No. 88 Chevrolet with driver Cole Whitt throughout the 2012 Nationwide Series season.

Cook comes to JR Motorsports from Kevin Harvick, Inc., where he served as crew chief in 2011 in the Camping World Truck Series, predominately for the No. 2 KHI Chevrolet.  With Cook atop the pit box, his team scored six wins, 19 top-fives and 22 top-10s en route to the owner’s championship.  Cook was also the winning crew chief of the NASCAR Nationwide Series season-opener at Daytona in 2011 with driver Tony Stewart.

Cook’s early years of racing were spent watching his father pilot a modified at local short tracks around his home town of Point Pleasant, N.J.  When Cook turned 18, he earned his chance to climb into the driver’s seat.  He eventually wheeled his way to the Modified Championship at Flemington (N.J.) Speedway in 1997.

The 1999 season saw Cook transition to Charlotte, N.C., where he secured his first position with a NASCAR team, serving as a mechanic with RahMoc Racing. Over the next three years, he worked alongside both rookie and veteran drivers as a car chief in the Nationwide Series.

By the time the 2003 Sprint Cup season began, Cook was employed with Roush Fenway Racing and the No. 17 team.  The team went on to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship with Matt Kenseth, giving Cook his second championship in a six-year span.

Cook continued working with various NASCAR teams as a crew chief following the 2004 season, including Robert Yates Racing and Germain Racing before joining KHI in 2010.

In addition to his crew chief duties at JR Motorsports, Cook will contribute in multiple capacities to all three JRM teams.

Cook resides in Concord, N.C., with his wife and three children.  When not at the racetrack, he enjoys golfing.
