MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 16, 2022) – Over the past 10 days, Wyatt Miller became quite the road warrior. The 10-year-old son of Kelley Earnhardt Miller and L.W. Miller went on a coast-to-coast winning streak, racking up victories in California, Missouri and North Carolina in three different classes of open-wheel cars.
The journey began in California, at Chico’s Cycleland Speedway for the Outlaw Karts Showcase over the Labor Day weekend. The three-day showcase saw Miller at the wheel of his Lube Zone/Darin Odle’s Special Touch Collision Center 250cc Intermediate class Outlaw Kart, and on opening night, the youngster won the preliminary feature. Miller passed Khloe Cotton in the final two laps to earn the triumph.
The following night, the young wheelman pulled off a perfect night, setting fast time in his group and winning his heat race before charging all the way from 16th at the start to the victory. The performance locked him into the feature event on Tuesday, the final night of the showcase. Unfortunately, Miller’s hopes of a three-race sweep fell short.
From there, Miller headed back east to race his winged Restricted Micro at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in Sweet Springs, Mo. in the annual John Hinck Championship. Miller drove his No. 83 Restricted Micro to victory in his 10-lap heat race and swept the 25-lap feature over Jack Thomas and Brody Hibdon on Friday.
In Saturday’s championship rounds, Miller was third in his heat race and finished third in the main behind Thomas and Levi Hinck. The event was run on the undercard of the USAC National Midget appearance at Sweet Springs.
Heading home to North Carolina for Wednesday night’s non-winged Restricted Micro event at Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, Miller was again at the top of his game. The young driver set fast time, won his heat and claimed the 15-lap feature, driving his No. 83 Lube Zone/BRANDT/Darin Odle’s Special Touch Collision Center/K&C Drywall/Pristine Auction machine.
In just 10 days of racing, Miller won three races in three states while driving three different types of open-wheel cars. In two of those victories, Miller ran the table with clean sweeps (fast time, heat race win and feature win).
