MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 21, 2025) – JR Motorsports’ Late Model team completed a rare multi-venue weekend with a victory and a second-place finish. Caden Kvapil won the fourth annual Jack Ingram Memorial at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway in the team’s No. 8 Carolina Carports Chevrolet, while Hall raced to a second-place result in the second leg of the Virginia Triple Crown at Langley Speedway.
Kvapil’s win was the second of the weekend for Carolina Carports, as Connor Zilisch won the NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Dover Motor Speedway in the company’s colors. It was also his first win in the Late Model Stock Car ranks and for JR Motorsports.
Kvapil, making his fourth start of the season in the No. 8 Chevrolet, qualified third for the 111-lap race in honor of the legendary NASCAR champion. Figuring that the 111-lap event would put a premium on saving tires for the end of the race, he hung in the top five for much of the early going.
Later in the race, the younger Kvapil began to increase his pace and raced into the runner-up spot behind Landen Lewis. Not having as good a short-run car as he did on the long run, Kvapil fought hard for the lead on a few restarts, but was still second as the race neared its end.
The race stayed green following the final caution flag and Kvapil was able to track down Lewis with about 10 laps to go to take the lead and held him off over the remaining distance for the win. The victory was Kvapil’s first for JR Motorsports in the Late Model Stock Car class, and excellent practice for the zMAX CARS Tour’s Throwback Classic at the legendary speedway on Aug. 2.
“It was really cool to pick up my first LMSC win and I can’t thank Dale, Kelley, LW, and Bryan (team manager Bryan Shaffer) enough for the opportunity to drive the Carolina Carports/Bass Pro Shops Team Chevy No. 8! My dad (Travis Kvapil) and the rest of the crew gave me a great car all weekend and this win gives us a lot of confidence going into the CARS Tour race at Hickory where we’ll chase $50,000!”
Hall, winner of the opening round of the Virginia Triple Crown at South Boston on June 28, qualified his No. 88 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Chevrolet in the fifth position for the Hampton Heat at Langley and settled into the top 15 or so before the halfway point in the 200-lap event.
Over the remaining laps, Hall began the march toward the front, battling within the top five and assuming the runner-up position late in the going after a tense battle with Brendan Queen and others.
With 24 laps remaining, Hall passed into second place and set his sights on leader Matt Waltz, putting his Chevrolet on Waltz’s rear bumper. Over the remaining distance, Hall kept it close but ended up crossing the line in second position.
That puts Hall in a good position for later this season at the final round of the Virginia Triple Crown at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.
“We had a super-fast Johnny Morris Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats No. 88 and it was great all weekend,” Hall said after the race. “We had good speed and were able to qualify in the top five, which is important at Langley. So glad we were able to represent here at my home track in front of my hometown crowd. Thanks to Dale, Kelley, LW and Bryan for the opportunity, and also to Slim, Justin, Ernie, Deron and the rest of the crew for the hard work this weekend.”
Both Hall and Kvapil will see action for JR Motorsports on Aug. 2 in the annual Throwback Classic for the zMAX CARS Tour at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway.
