- After a rain-shortened race at Dover Motor Speedway, Carson Kvapil heads back to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for his second NASCAR Xfinity Series start on the famed 2.5-mile oval.
- In his first NXS start at Indy last year, Kvapil qualified seventh and maintained his track position to earn a top-10 finish at “The Brickyard” last season.
- On tracks greater than 2 miles, the 22-year-old Mooresville native has six starts, earning one top-five and three top-10s. His best finish of fourth came earlier this season at Daytona International Speedway.
- In honor of Jamie McMurray’s 2010 special Brickyard 400 win, Kvapil will be running a throwback scheme this weekend paying homage to the former NASCAR Cup Series driver.
- Justin Allgaier is a previous winner on the historic oval of Indianapolis in the NXS, taking the checkered flag in this event in 2018.
- Overall, in seven career starts on the oval, Allgaier has scored three top-fives and four top-10s to accompany his lone victory.
- Allgaier earned a ninth-place finish in the NXS’ return to the traditional speedway layout last season.
- Heading into this weekend, Allgaier currently ranks first in top-five finishes this season (11) and tied for first in top-10s (13).
- Sammy Smith heads to Indianapolis for the second time on the 2.5-mile oval in the NXS.
- Throughout Smith’s NXS career, he has competed on tracks over 2 miles in length 19 times. Of those, he has one win, two top-five and five top-10 finishes.
- According to NASCAR Loop Data Statistics, Smith is fourth for the most laps run in the top 15 so far this season (80.5 percent).
- TMC Transportation will share the TV panel this weekend with Gerdau, one of the leading producers of long steel in the Americas with a history spanning more than 120 years. Gerdau is guided by its purpose of empowering people who build the future and prides itself on being the largest recycling company in Latin America.
- Connor Zilisch will make his first Indianapolis start in the NXS on Saturday afternoon.
- Zilisch scored his fourth win of the 2025 season this past weekend at Dover, in his first attempt at the “Monster Mile” with the NXS. This victory was his second consecutive win as the Mooresville native won the previous weekend at Sonoma Raceway and his eighth consecutive top-five finish.
- The driver of the WeatherTech Chevrolet leads all NXS drivers in race wins (four) and pole positions (four) this season.
- Zilisch used his victory at Dover to climb up two positions in the NXS driver standings. The driver of the WeatherTech Chevrolet is now second, 56 points behind leader Justin Allgaier.
Carson Kvapil: “We ran well at Indy last year, so I am looking forward to going back this weekend and I know this No. 1 team will unload another fast Bass Pro Shops/Clarience Technologies Chevrolet. Justin Allgaier: “Indianapolis is such a special place and somewhere that I really like racing at. We were fortunate enough to get a win here a few years ago and I know that we are going to have a car capable of getting back to Victory Lane again this weekend. I know that Jim (Pohlman, crew chief) and all the guys on this Hellmann’s team are ready to go. Win No. 100 is right there in front of all of us here at JRM, and I know that all four of us are going to be going for it.”
Sammy Smith: “With the rain ending our race early at Dover, we didn’t get a chance to get to the front, so I’m ready to get to Indy and get back on track. We have had fast cars, we just need to be more consistent and having a full practice this weekend should help us get TMC and Gerdau in Victory Lane.”
Connor Zilisch: “This will be my first race on the oval at Indianapolis and I’m really looking forward to this weekend. It’s so historic and racing across the bricks is unlike any other track. We have a small-horsepower package there in Xfinity so the racing can be tight with big runs. Having a full hour of practice will be nice to get a feel for the track and dial in our No. 88 WeatherTech Chevrolet to have a shot to be in Victory Lane again.”
