MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 12, 2019) – In the opening race of the eNASCAR Heat Pro League playoffs at the virtual Las Vegas Motor Speedway—the first with the new NASCAR Heat 4 game in play—JR Motorsports drivers Tyler Dohar and Jason Keffer finished sixth and 13th respectively, assuring the two-car team a spot in the next round.

Dohar, driving the newly liveried No. 88 Sock It to Childhood Cancer Chevrolet, started the night with a solid sixth-place finish in the 50-lap XBOX opener, while Keffer had fourth place nearly in the bag before another car plowed into his No. 7 FilterTime Chevrolet and pushed him back to 13th in the PS4 nightcap. The results saw JR Motorsports drop two spots out of the top four in points, however, and that means added pressure for the next race at the virtual Kansas Speedway on Sept. 25.

In the opening 50-lapper for XBOX, Dohar qualified 10th and stayed in the back half of the 14-car field until the first caution waved just seven laps in. Struggling with a setup that was tight in the center and loose off the corners, Dohar hit pit road to make adjustments and take tires and fuel. Emerging from the pits in eighth place, Dohar dropped immediately to 12th on the green, but had advanced to 10th with 31 laps remaining in the event. Pit stops began from the leaders with 29 laps remaining, and Dohar stayed out for two laps to gain track position, rising all the way to second in the order.

Pitting with 27 laps to go from second, Dohar cycled back to ninth two laps later and was still there when the competition caution waved with 23 laps to go. Hitting pit road again for further adjustments, Dohar restarted ninth with 20 circuits remaining, and immediately was in the swarm as cars raced four-wide around him. That lasted another lap before another car bounded off the inside line and up into the side of the No. 88, damaging his machine and forcing him to pit road again. After repairing the damage and making further adjustments, Dohar returned to the track in 13th place. From there, he set about improving his position and he made up seven spots before the checkered waved, leaving him sixth at the finish.

In the nightcap for PS4 competitors, Keffer started 13th in his first outing with FilterTime colors after a slow qualifying lap, but wasted little time moving forward. In the first four laps, Keffer was in the top 10 and by the time the competition caution waved with 39 laps remaining, he was up to seventh. After pitting, Keffer came out eighth for the restart and again moved forward, needing just 11 laps to crack the top five for the first time. With 20 laps remaining in the 50-lapper, Keffer was running a smooth sixth, chasing a five-car breakaway at the front when a non-playoff driver slammed his No. 7 into the outside wall with 15 laps remaining in the event.

That ended a solid run for Keffer and the resulting loss of points pushed JR Motorsports out of the top four in points. The two-car team trails fourth place by just seven points, however, with two races yet to run before the finalists for the title are determined.

Subsequent eNASCAR Heat Pro League playoff races include Kansas Speedway (Sept. 25) and Homestead-Miami Speedway (Oct. 9) before the winner-take-all finale on Oct. 23 at a track to be announced.
