MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 8, 2020) – NASCAR today released the next phase of the 2020 schedule for the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and there are some surprises within it.
The biggest one is a trip to Daytona International Speedway...for an event on the road course at the legendary facility. The Aug. 15 NXS event will be the first visit by series to the 3.56-mile course, which plays host to the annual Rolex 24 for sports cars each February. The event on the oval and infield track replaces the annual trek to Watkins Glen International for the series.
The month opens on Aug. 8 with a visit to the 4.048-mile Road America circuit in Wisconsin, followed by the Daytona road-course event a week later. The following weekend, the series will travel to Dover International Speedway for a Saturday-Sunday doubleheader on The Monster Mile.
August comes to a close with the annual summer trip to Daytona—the 2.5-mile oval, that is.
NASCAR Xfinity Series races will not run at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Michigan, with the realigned dates and locations to be determined.
As to when fans may be allowed back at the track, NASCAR will determine such for NASCAR Cup Series races on a market-by-market basis, in accordance with local and state guidelines.
