MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 12, 2020) – The NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series points season ends this coming Sunday, and Josh Berry currently leads the Div. 1 standings. On Saturday night, Berry earned his 23rd Late Model victory of the season in the second of two 60-lap features at Dominion Raceway, putting him in good position for the first national title for himself and for JR Motorsports.

In the first of the two 60-lap events, Berry qualified second in a dead heat with Peyton Sellers, the driver closest to him in the NASCAR points. Starting third, Berry kept his No. 88 All Things Automotive/iRacing Chevrolet there for the opening laps until he began to develop a vibration. Berry soldiered on in fourth place until a late caution flag waved with around six laps remaining. Hitting pit road, Berry’s crew discovered that the tire was coming apart. Putting on the spare, Berry returned to action and finished ninth.

For the second race, Berry began from ninth position and started moving forward. Over the first half of the 60-lap nightcap, Berry made his way to second a little past the halfway mark, chasing leader Doug Barnes. Berry got past Barnes for the lead with 12 laps remaining and held it to the finish. The victory, his 23rd of the season and 21st that counts in the NASCAR standings, was important because of his starting position. The deeper in the field the winner starts, the more points he earns. Entering the weekend with a 26-point lead on Sellers for the title, it gave Berry a bit more breathing room with one week left in the season.

Berry will return to Hickory Motor Speedway this coming weekend for the annual Fall Brawl on Saturday and will compete in twin 40-lappers at Southern National Speedway on Sunday. Teammate and Driver’s Edge Development driver Connor Mosack will also compete at Hickory in his Nic Tailor Underwear/IFS Chevrolet.

Josh Berry, driver No. 88 All Things Automotive/iRacing Chevrolet team

“I felt like we had a really good All Things Automotive/iRacing Chevrolet the whole time we were at Dominion. Once we put our race tires on we seemed to lose the balance a bit and ultimately had a tire issue that was probably part of the problem. We made some adjustments in between and went a bit too far, but we were still good enough to get the win. We are looking forward to the last weekend of racing for these points, and I believe we are in a good spot.”
