MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 7, 2021) -- Conner Jones earned a 10th-place finish in his debut for JR Motorsports on Saturday night, taking on the best the CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour had to offer on the .400-mile oval.

The 15-year-old Virginia native started 15th after a qualifying run which saw the young driver stay a little too long on the brakes into the looping corners at Langley. After getting away to a solid start, Jones was saving tires for the end when he was caught up in an early restart fight with Sam Butler and Justin S. Carroll.

Jones was following Butler under Carroll’s car when the latter forced it three-wide in the middle. Carroll's car came down into Jones' No. 88 Jones Utilities Chevrolet, causing Jones to wheel-hop over his left rear tire and doing damage to the front of Jones' car.

Jones lined up 13th for the restart and resumed saving tires until the 50-lap mark. The young driver gained three positions over the remaining distance to earn a 10th-place finish. The result was Jones’ first top-10 of the season in six CARS Tour starts.

Rookie Kaden Honeycutt won the race, his first on the CARS Tour, after starting on the front row and leading all 125 laps. In doing so, he became the first Texas native to earn a CARS Tour victory. His teammate and car owner, Justin Johnson was second, with Deac McCaskill, Layne Riggs and Jared Fryar rounding out the top five. McCaskill, one of the original CARS Tour competitors, was able to close within a single point of series leader Bobby McCarty, who struggled all night and finished 17th.

The next event on the CARS Tour schedule is June 19 at Virginia's Dominion Raceway.

Conner Jones, driver No. 88 Jones Utilities Chevrolet team

"Langley Speedway is one of the most fun tracks I’ve raced on, but it's also difficult. It has two grooves to race in, and the transition from new to old pavement makes it interesting on the entries to both corners. We had a great Jones Utilities Chevrolet all day, but I needed to save more tire for the end. I would like to thank my sponsor, Jones Utilities, and the JR Motorsports team for such a fast car. Overall, it was a great weekend."
