MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Nov. 6, 2021) -- Carson Kvapil battled from 11th at the start on Saturday night at Hickory Motor Speedway to finish a closing third in the 200-lap Fall Brawl Late Model Stock Car race, driving JR Motorsports' familiar All Things Automotive/iRacing Chevrolet.

The 18-year-old driver, recently signed to race the No. 8 in 2022, made a few changes to his Chevrolet in practice to get it tightened up on corner exit. The changes came in during qualifying and made the No. 8 a touch tight in the center of the tight corners, which resulted in an 11th-place starting position.

The extra-distance race puts a premium on saving tires, and Kvapil took that to heart by riding the first 50 laps to save his. At that point, Kvapil started to push and raced from 11th to fifth over the next 50 circuits to reach the lap-100 break.

Pitting to put right-side tires on his All Things Automotive/iRacing Chevrolet, Kvapil took the green flag for the restart in fifth, but fell back to ninth while fighting a return of the tight condition in the center of the corners.

Once the field got to single-file, however, the young driver began to climb forward, using the whole track to better his corner entry. Over the remaining laps, Kvapil was the fastest car on the track and got all the way to third before he ran out of laps.

Mason Diaz won the race over Mitch Walker and Kvapil, while Ryan Millington and Taylor Satterfield rounded out the top five. The second five consisted of Mike Darne, Justin Johnson, Byron Dennis, Jason Miles and Chase James.

Kvapil will return to the track for JRM on Nov. 20 at Florence (S.C.) Motor Speedway, where he will contest the annual Florence 400.

Carson Kvapil, driver No. 8 All Things Automotive/iRacing Chevrolet team

"I thought the No. 8 All Things Automotive/iRacing Chevrolet was pretty good most of the day, and we were a contender in the last 50 laps. I was able to get into the corner better than everyone else and that's how I was able to come out with a third-place finish. Big thanks to All Things Automotive, iRacing and JR Motorsports for letting me drive this No. 8 car."
