Conner Jones made his JR Motorsports Late Model debut on June 5, 2021 at Langley Speedway in his native Virginia, earning a 10th-place finish in the CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car Series. The 15-year-old driver is scheduled to complete the remainder of the 2021 season with JRM, driving the team’s No. 88 Chevrolet with sponsorship from Jones Utilities.

Jones began his racing career in 2011 at the age of 6, driving go-karts in the World Karting Association around Virginia, running the weekly series races to gain experience. At age 8, he moved to the Bandelero division of the U.S. Legend Car organization, racing at Southside Speedway, Dominion Raceway and Langley in Virginia as well as the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina.

The young driver took the track championship at Southside Speedway in 2017 and earned 12 victories during his time in the class. In late 2017, Jones advanced to a full-on U.S. Legend Car and won the Virginia State Championship at the age of 13.

Following the progression, Jones went up to the Limited Late Model ranks in 2019 at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina, logging several top-three finishes before bumping up to the Late Model Stock Car ranks at the end of the 2019 season.

Jones took the next step up the ladder to full-time LMSC competition in 2020 and ended the year with a stirring run from 28th to sixth in the season-ending Florence 400 at Florence (S.C.) Speedway. One of the drivers he trailed across the finish line that day was JRM’s own Josh Berry, who finished second after a late-race duel with Ty Majeski. Jones finished 30th in the NASCAR Weekly Series championship points that season.

In 2021, the young Virginian made a splash at the annual World Series of Asphalt Racing in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., winning two feature races and finishing second in points to Kody Swanson over the week-long festival of speed. Jones tabbed that performance as the highlight of his racing career to date.

In 2021, Jones committed to the CARS Racing Tour’s Late Model Stock Car division and competed in the first five races for Mike Darne Racing before switching to the JRM stable for the sixth race of the season at Langley Speedway. In that event, Jones earned his first top-10 finish in the CARS Tour. In the next race two weeks later, Jones was 11th at Dominion Raceway.

The 15-year-old Jones attends online school, as many other young racers do. In his off-time, the young driver plays golf, rides 4-wheelers and spends time iRacing and playing video games. He is a fan of the National Hockey League’s Washington Capitals and the Professional Golf Association as well as motorsports.
