JRM announced today WR1 Sim Chassis will back Michael Conti's No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro for the 2020 iRacing World Championship Series season.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Jan. 10, 2020) – Michael Conti will have a new primary partner and paint scheme on his No. 8 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro for the eNASCAR iRacing Series season, the team announced today.

WR1 Sim Chassis, owned by Chad Wheeler and based in Oklahoma, is one of the premiere providers of affordable, custom-built racing frame rigs for the burgeoning iRacing and esports industry. A number of NASCAR stars are huge proponents of Wheeler’s WR1 rigs.

“Teaming up with Dale Jr., JR Motorsports and Michael Conti for this year’s eNASCAR iRacing Series is a big development for WR1 Sim Chassis and Wheeler Metals,” said Wheeler. “WR1 rigs are built by racers for racers, and joining up with a team of racers like Dale, Michael and JRM is a fantastic opportunity for us. Dale has been a sim-racing proponent for a long time, and it means a lot to align our brands. I am looking forward to success both on the track and off in 2020.”

Conti, the 22-year-old New Jersey native, will campaign a new primary paint scheme which features the classic JRM No. 8 on a red base with chrome and flat black accents, with WR1’s branding on the hood and quarterpanels.

“It’s really cool to be partnered with WR1 this season for JR Motorsports,” Conti said upon the announcement. “WR1 is an industry leader in building high-quality, custom frame rigs for iRacing. They’ve got everything from entry-level rigs to really cool custom units, and it will be a great partnership for us in terms of getting their brand’s name out there along with ours. Looking at some of Chad’s products, it’s really a step above what’s out there. We have a lot of good stuff in the works for 2020, and going for wins and championships with WR1 is obviously the goal for this year.”

Conti came a whisker from competing in the winner-take-all iRacing finale last season, eventually finishing seventh in the final point standings. Over the courses of the season, Conti earned three poles, three top-five and eight top-10 finishes in 12 races, leading 308 laps. The laps-led total was second in the series behind champion Zack Novak, who led 329.

Details will be forthcoming on the complete IWCS schedule and stream times.
