MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Aug. 3, 2020) – Connor Mosack drove to a solid seventh-place finish in Saturday night’s CARS Late Model Stock event at Hickory Motor Speedway, while teammate Josh Berry finished fifth and sixth in twin 40-lap mains at Virginia’s Dominion Raceway.

Mosack’s Nic Tailor/IFS Chevrolet carried the No. 88 this week for the CARS LMSC event and the young Charlotte driver served notice he was going to be a factor in the first series race since June 13, also at Hickory. Mosack posted the second-fastest time in practice, despite a loose condition on the hot surface. In qualifying, he set the sixth-fastest time and would start the race from the outside of the third row.

At the start, Mosack maintained his position in the top seven until the first caution around lap 25. After falling back to eighth through another caution, Mosack was able to run the high line and got back to sixth at the competition caution on lap 75. On the restart, he was able to ride the top to fourth place, and several laps later was battling for second, but had to maintain third place. His machine fired off well, but got looser as the runs went on, which saw him drop back to seventh over the final 45-lap run to the checkered flag.

Bobby McCarty won the race, followed by Jared Fryar, Mini Tyrrell, Trevor Ward and Chad McCumbee.

Berry, chasing the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series title, ventured to Dominion Raceway in Virginia for a pair of 40-lap weekly shows in his All Things Automotive/iRacing Chevrolet. After qualifying second-quick for the first 40-lapper, Berry’s machine developed a loose condition and he dropped to sixth by the time the checkered flag waved in the first 40-lapper.

During the break, the team made some changes to the setup of Berry’s car. Starting third, the Tennessee native fired off well, but he had worn his tires during the first 40-lapper and did not have enough left to contend with the leaders and he finished fifth.

Berry will compete in twin 40-lappers at Hickory this coming Saturday, while Mosack will tackle the CARS LMSC event at Dominion Raceway the same day.

Connor Mosack, driver No. 88 Nic Tailor/IFS Chevrolet team

“Our Nic Tailor/IFS Chevrolet was good for most of the race, especially on shorter runs, and when we could run the outside line. We just struggled with the car getting too loose all-around to be able to run up front at the end of the race. I think overall it was a good weekend. We qualified better, stayed near the front for most of the night, and kept the car in one piece.”

Josh Berry, driver No. 88 All Things Automotive/iRacing Chevrolet team

“Dominion was a learning experience for us. We had hopes of getting some practice Friday, but that rained out completely. We just ran out of time trying to get the All Things Automotive/iRacing Chevrolet better and were way too loose in the first race. We made some significant changes for the second race, and I believe we were better, but we just had used too much of the right-rear tire in the first race.”
