MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Dec. 22, 2021) -- Thanks to a heavy dose of nostalgia, Josh Berry's No. 8 Tire Pros Throwback Chevrolet has claimed the top spot in JRM's 2021 paint scheme fan vote.
Following a marathon blitz of elimination-style voting via Twitter over the past two weeks, the championship bout came down to a pair of throwback liveries with Berry's No. 8 going up against Michael Annett's No. 1 Gatorade tribute to Darrell Waltrip. In the end it was Berry's Tire Pros entry, honoring Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s 2001 Pepsi 400 win at Daytona, that reigned supreme.
The entry was significant and memorable in many ways. Mirroring the Budweiser All-Star Game Chevrolet that Dale Jr. drove to victory in the first race at Daytona following the tragic loss of Dale Sr. in the 2001 Daytona 500, the scheme featured decals depicting Dale Jr.'s victory celebration with then DEI teammate Michael Waltrip, whom Dale Jr. had escorted to the checkered in the fateful race there a few months before.
For JRM, it was also a one/two finish with the Tire Pros throwback. Berry drove the fan-favorite entry to a runner-up effort at Darlington Raceway on May 8, 2021, second only to JRM teammate Justin Allgaier. The victory was JRM's first of two wins at the historic facility this season and fourth overall.
