MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Dec. 2, 2022) - With win celebrations that include fence climbing, shotgunning beers with fans and late-night runs to 24-hour diners, Noah Gragson now stands as the people's champ for 2022. Last night Gragson was named this season's NASCAR Xfinity Series Most Popular Driver as voted on by the fans. The award is his first and the 11th consecutive time that the annual achievement has been awarded to a JR Motorsports driver.
In total, a JRM driver has earned 13 of the last 15 Most Popular Driver honors in the NXS. Last year's victor Justin Allgaier claimed the title in 2019-21, tying Elliott Sadler as the only drivers to win three straight Most Popular Driver Awards with the same team. Sadler earned the honor from the fans in 2016-18 while at JRM, and leads overall in the series with four total trophies.
Allgaier, Brad Keselowski (2008-09), Chase Elliott (2014-15), Regan Smith (2013) and Danica Patrick (2012) are the other drivers to win the award for JRM.
Gragson, who will compete full-time in the Cup Series in 2023, had an historic year for JRM. The Las Vegas native won eight races in the No. 9 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet in 2022, including a record-tying run of four consecutive in the month of September. He led the team not just in victories, but also set an organizational record with 1,010 laps led along with a series-high 21 top-five finishes.
