Hall Rallies to 10th in CARS Tour LMSC Run at North Wilkesboro

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 19, 2025) – North Wilkesboro Speedway has been good to the JR Motorsports Late Model team since the 2022 revival of the legendary speedway.

On Friday night, however, it was decidedly unfriendly to the two-car contingent.

Connor Hall, driver of the No. 88 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Chevrolet, qualified 17th in the event, which was televised by FOX Sports 1, and raced among the leaders for much of the early going before a mechanical issue slowed his pace and he wound up 10th at the checkered flag.

Hall was hanging in the top 10 around lap 30 when sparks began to fly from the underside of his Chevrolet. A trip to pit road for repairs put him well back in the field. Over the remainder of the event, Hall flashed some serious speed and battled back into the top 10, finishing 10th at the checkered flag.

That-and Landen Lewis’s second consecutive victory–cost him the lead in the driver standings.

Caden Kvapil, driving the No. 8 Carolina Carports/Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet, was first out to qualify for the event and wound up seventh for the start. Kvapil was solidly in the top six as the field entered Turn 1 on lap 2 when two cars got together on the high side. Taking evasive action, Kvapil dived low to miss the altercation but wound up getting hit in the right rear.

The damage was cosmetic, but it forced an early pit stop and he restarted the race from 27th position. Regrouping following the incident, Kvapil charged to 13th at lap 30, but retired 15 laps later when the engine expired.

Carson Kvapil, winner of that inaugural race in 2022 and now a full-time driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for JRM, qualified well in his family team’s Chevrolet and was battling in the top five when he was caught up in a Turn 1 crash. The damage was too severe for the two-time zMAX CARS Tour LMSC champion to continue and he finished 29th.

Lewis won the race over Tristan McKee, Mini Tyrrell, Kaden Honeycutt and Carson Loftin.

Next race for the JR Motorsports Late Model team will be May 31 at Langley Speedway in Virginia.

It kind of killed our momentum at that point, but we raced back up to 10th to salvage what we could. We’ll shake it off and go to Langley in a couple of weeks to see what we can do to get our point lead back.”
