Hall, JRM To Battle for CARS Tour Title on Saturday at North Wilkesboro Speedway

Connor Hall enters the zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car season finale on Saturday with a chance to take one step up the podium. A return to North Wilkesboro Speedway offers the Virginia native the chance to finish the job he started back in March, when the CARS Tour opened the season at Coastal Plains Raceway.

Hall is second, just 12 points adrift of current zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car leader Landen Lewis, who won the first NWS race earlier this season.

The earlier trip to the .625-mile oval in May ended with a mechanical issue and Hall is looking for that next step up the podium on Saturday. He’s been runner-up in the championship in both his previous full-time seasons in the CARS Tour LMSC division.

A solid finish at Tri-County Motor Speedway on Oct. 4 was a good jumping-off point for this weekend’s event, he said. He and his Bryan Shaffer-led JR Motorsports squad trimmed his deficit to point leader Landen Lewis to 12 with one race remaining.

“We did 90 percent of our job at Tri-County,” Hall said. “We’re looking to continue building on that package we had there. We’re excited to get to Wilkesboro and try some different setup items and see if we can’t make the car a little better. Maybe we can end the year with an elevator ride.”

Should he win the CARS Tour LMSC championship, he will be the third JRM driver to do so, following Josh Berry (2017) and Carson Kvapil (2022 and 2023).

Caden Kvapil will be in the field on Saturday night as well, driving the No. 8 Carolina Carports Chevrolet. The younger brother of current JRM NXS championship contender Carson, Caden qualified seventh for the first race at NWS earlier this year, but fell victim to an early engine problem and finished 27th.

The 2025 LMSC Tour season could not have started on a better note for Hall. He never finished worse than second across the first three races, scoring victories at Coastal Plains (which was then named New River All-American Speedway) and Cordele Motor Speedway.

Hall’s Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Chevrolet has had speed all season. He and Lewis have the same number of top-five finishes (7), but a pair of 18th-place finishes (including at NWS) dug the hole that Hall must climb out of to win the title.

“To end the season on a high note would be nice,” Hall said. “We’re looking for a win or a championship, hopefully both. We’ve had a pretty good year but have had some bad luck at times which has cost us a little more than we needed it to. If the championship takes care of itself, it does.”
