Shane Van Gisbergen put on a show Saturday at Sonoma Raceway, leading 66 of the 79 laps and racing to his second victory of the season in Saturday’s Pit Boss/Food Maxx 250 for NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts teams.
The victory was JRM’s 12th of the season in 19 races and the 20th road-course win for the team overall. The first came in 2008 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, with Ron Fellows behind the wheel.
Connor Zilisch, last year’s winner for the team at Sonoma, trailed Van Gisbergen to the checkered for a second-place finish and led four laps along the way.
Sammy Smith drove to 11th at the finish, while Rajah Caruth finished 14th. Justin Allgaier, the series points leader, finished 26th.
