Connor Hall’s ’25 zMAX CARS Tour Title Effort Moves to Wake County This Weekend

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 28, 2025) – Connor Hall has already won a zMAX CARS Tour race this season, taking the season opener at New River All-American Speedway on March 1.

The next 14 races will decide the series champion, and Hall already has a leg up on taking the top spot. The second race is set for Saturday night at North Carolina’s Wake County Speedway.

Hall, who took over the full-time ride in the No. 88 BASS Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Chevrolet from Carson Kvapil at the end of last season, is ready for the challenge. His philosophy for the title hunt is pretty simple: aim big, miss small.

“Obviously, we do everything at the shop to make sure we’re successful, but when we get to the track, we have to continue that through practice and qualifying,” he said. “When it comes to the race, it is about understanding about what chess piece you hold that night. Some races, you have the queen and you can move all around, attack from every direction. But every now and then you are dealt a pawn, not the queen, and you have to figure out how to make that work.”

Nearly a full month after his season-opening triumph at New River All-American Speedway, Hall said maximizing opportunities was going to be the key to winning the series title.

“Every night you’re not going to be the guy to beat,” he said. “In a perfect world, that’s how it is but when you aren’t the guy to beat you have to figure out a way to maximize those nights, and that’s what wins the championship. Everyone’s going to have good nights, but how you take a seventh-place night and turn it into a third-place night…that’s how I want to approach this year.”

The strength of the zMAX CARS Tour’s LMSC field this year is another factor Hall has to address.

“There’s a ton of good cars and talent this year, just like it is every year,” he said. “The Tour’s growing. Last year we had 21 cars at Wake County; this year we have 29. At New River, it was 37-38 cars for the opener. Once we get back to the regular tracks, I expect that to be in the low 30s for sure. That’s pretty phenomenal for a touring series.”

There are goals to be met, and Hall has a few of them. One is extending his winning streak with JRM to three races in a row this weekend (he won last year’s Fall Brawl at Hickory Motor Speedway as well as at New River). The others are farther down the schedule.

“I really want to win at Langley Speedway again, and I want to ride the elevator at North Wilkesboro,” the Virginia native said. “That speaks for itself and would be really cool. I also want a grandfather clock (at Martinsville). Those would be milestones. I’ve already won the SoBo 200 and the Hampton Heat, and I’d like to win Martinsville because I don’t know how many people have won all three of the Virginia Triple Crown races.”

The meat of the schedule is just ahead, and Hall is focused on getting a bigger jump on the rest of the field. The green flag for the 125-lap CARS LMSC Tour feature will wave at 7:30 p.m. ET, with FloRacing providing live coverage of all the on-track action.
