The Summer of JRM: Season Streak Continues with Iowa Next

Now that JR Motorsports has eclipsed the 100-win mark in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, the fun might not be over for the team owned by NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kelley Earnhardt Miller and Rick Hendrick.

Connor Zilisch’s centennial triumph at Indianapolis Motor Speedway not only put JRM at the century mark, it was the team’s 12th win of the 2025 season and represented the fourth straight win for the team. That’s tied for the top spot in JRM’s history.

Speaking of consecutive victories, should the young driver win again this weekend in Iowa, he will become the third driver in NASCAR Xfinity Series history to win four consecutive races (Sam Ard in 1983 and JRM’s own Noah Gragson in 2022 are the others).

The streak has also put this year’s edition of the team just three triumphs short of tying the team record for wins (15) in a season, set in 2022.

The pace has been break-neck as well. This season, JRM drivers have won 12 of the first 21 races. In 2022, the team reached that mark in the 26th race when Gragson won the Bristol night race on Sept. 16 of that year. It was the third win of his scintillating four-race winning streak that season.

Zilisch is currently on a heater of his own, having won five times this season, including the last three events at Sonoma, Dover and Indianapolis. He has six wins in his NXS career (Watkins Glen in 2024 in his maiden drive for the team), all for JRM.

With 12 races remaining on the calendar, chances seem good to set a new single-season wins record as well.

Gragson, now in the Cup Series, won eight times in 2022 and came an eyelash away from the series championship in the season finale at Phoenix. Josh Berry and Justin Allgaier won three times each that season, and Kyle Larson scored at Watkins Glen as well.

Zilisch is on a similar tear, having won two road-course events (COTA and Sonoma) and three on ovals, including on the big tracks at Pocono and Indianapolis and the 1-mile concrete oval at Dover.

The next three races on the schedule are at tracks–Iowa, Watkins Glen and Daytona-where JRM has won a combined 15 times. Zilisch is the defending champion at the Glen, while Allgaier won at both Daytona and Iowa in the summer of 2018. JRM enters the Iowa weekend as the defending race champion thanks to Sam Mayer’s win there last season.

Mardy Lindley was the crew chief at Iowa last season and helped Mayer to that win, and he’s been Zilisch’s team boss all season long.

Of the 11 races remaining after Iowa, JRM has won at least one race at nine of the venues on the schedule, with the lone exceptions being the road course at Portland and World Wide Technology Raceway, formerly known as Gateway
