The long-awaited start of the inaugural NASCAR Heat Pro League is this Sunday as the field of drivers competes at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 24, 2019) – The long-awaited debut of the eNASCAR Heat Pro Series will take place on Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway as part of the buildup toward this weekend’s annual World 600 NASCAR Cup Series event at the historic speedway.

JR Motorsports drivers Jason Keffer (No. 7 Chevrolet) and Tyler Dohar (No. 88 Chevrolet) will be part of the inaugural race, which is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EDT at the NASCAR Trackside Live stage. The event will also be shown on NASCAR’s Facebook page and 704Games’ Twitch via livestream. Several NASCAR Cup drivers, including JRM’s 2014 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Chase Elliott, will be on hand for the festivities.

“The eNASCAR Heat Pro League is a result of incredible industry collaboration and a shared commitment to growing NASCAR through innovation,” said Tim Clark, senior vice president and chief digital officer, NASCAR. “The esports community is massive, highly engaged and passionate, and our league presents an unparalleled opportunity to reach new and existing fans.”

For Keffer (JRM’s PS4 driver) and Dohar (Xbox driver), the live event will be an exciting kickoff to their careers as drivers for JR Motorsports in the esports realm of the sport.

“That’s (the live event) going to be interesting,” Charlotte resident Keffer said. “There’s going to be a crowd and I have a lot of family coming to the race. They’re going to the race anyway, so they’ll be there. My daughter will be there. I’m pretty good at keeping my emotions in check, because I spent nine years in the military. I’m used to keeping my cool. I expect a lot of nerves, but when it’s time to go, I will concentrate on what’s on the screen and just race.”

Dohar, who resides in Lorain, Ohio, had similar feelings regarding racing in front of a crowd despite having performed onstage at large concert halls for much of his life.

“I’m definitely going to be nervous,” Dohar said. “Talking to people who have done it (race) live, there are going to be a lot of emotions. Not that I have any nerves about performing in public, because I’ve performed in concert halls in front of thousands of people.

“But the first time, that is a special moment that you never get again, so I’ll take a second to register and realize what is going on. I will be very humbled and rewarded for the experience and try to take in all the emotions...”

The pair will join 26 other drivers in the newly formed esports league for the inaugural event, which kicks off a season that will end at the same time as the three national series in November.

“Players from across the country competed to be part of the eNASCAR Heat Pro League with the best of the best being chosen by teams to compete in the inaugural season back in March,” said Ed Martin, Managing Director of Esports, 704Games. “The 28 drafted drivers have spent weeks practicing for what is sure to be a thrilling and dynamic season. When we started the NASCAR Heat franchise, we set out to capture the drama and excitement that unfolds in NASCAR every week and deliver that experience to gamers around the world. The eNASCAR Heat Pro League is the next evolution of that mission and we’re thrilled to bring competitive online console racing to a global esports platform in collaboration with NASCAR.”

Pre-race coverage begins at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, followed by the Xbox race at 3:30 p.m. and the PS4 event at 4 p.m. The second race of the season will follow on Wednesday, May 29.
