MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 31, 2020) – With roughly two weeks remaining before the NASCAR Xfinity Series takes to the Daytona Road Course, yesterday NASCAR unveiled more details surrounding the historic event. Most notably, officials announced the addition of a chicane off Turn 4 that will bring additional drama to the already highly-anticipated race.

“I think, more than anything, it’s going to add even more excitement for the fans than we were already expecting,” Daytona International Speedway president Chip Wile said. “It’s really, truly making it NASCAR-centric. Obviously we have our road course that’s been in existence since 1959. But now, we have something very unique that no driver has seen.”

The 3.57-mile road course, most known for hosting the 24 Hours of Daytona sports car race, slices through the infield of the facility before emerging back onto the famed oval, similar in design to what fans have seen at the Charlotte Roval.

For JRM’s four-car team, they’ll do battle in stage lengths consisting of two 15-lap segments followed by a 22-lap run to the finish in the final stage. The series debut at the Daytona Road course will air on Saturday Aug. 15 at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
